325is auto communter to track tool

Hi all

I have a 92 325is that I purchased last week to start a project track car. I have previously owned fast street cars and drag cars (Mostly DSMs, but also an rx-7, a 240 and a celica gt-4) but I have never owned a car that I could take to the track reliably to learn motorsport properly with only maintenance and the occasional risk of catastrophe (as opposed to a DSM where it was the occasional risk of something not going wrong)

the car was a great deal which is good because it was by no means turn key. It is an auto (first time I've purchased an auto car even...) it had very badly failed struts (Initially I thought the play/movement was because of a wheel bearing, I have never seen a strut allow that much movement) and had sat for just under 2 years.

One thing I have learned from past projects is i'm going to be very strict with myself on this one.
I have a goal, I have a budget and I have a timeline. It's not a crazy project, It doesn't need 400 hp and a widebody kit because I am the biggest thing that needs to be modified to make this car fast, so I plan to update and refresh the entire suspension, make sure the engine is in good shape, swap the transmission and do a few low priced bolt ons that are class legal for autocross STU and the driving events I would like to attend.

On some suggestions of a few friends I have started a build blog for the car. I will update it once a week or so as I do work and order parts. The first order of business is disassembling and cleaning the 20 year old interior with coffee stains and many miles of commuting (car has 250,000 KMs on it)

So, I welcome feedback and suggestions!
