Postby SKILLR on Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:23 am

while driveing to work today my check engine light came on. i did not notice and changes in my car at all and still runs fine. the last work i did on the care was i changed the spark plugs and added lucas fuel system cleaner(which i think the cleaner might be what caused it) but any help or insight on this would be greatly appreaciated. (1999 E36 M3 140xxx miles)

good thing to do is to invest in a Peake Scan tool http://www.peakeresearch.com/ ive got one and its saved my ass plenty of time. Also resets service lights. or you can just go to autozone and they will scan the code for you, call in advance to make sure your autpparts has the scanner so you dont waste youre time.

You know how many times i saw that at the Polish mechanic's. With inspection and diagnosis, we'd end up charging customers about $100-150 for a new gas cap.
