Harmon Kardon stereo on/off volume switch

I have a 1998 328is and the volume switch seems to have stripped gears. Often, when I try to adjust the volume, it goes up when I'm trying to turn it down, and vice/versa. Is it possible to find a new button? If not, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Mine has been starting to do the same recently. I think I remember reading something about cleaning the contacts(?) of the knob
