im considering this e36
http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/3508917554.html

i need a reliable fun and sport manual car. i talked to the owner and he said he has full service records and that the trunk led was repainted and the car has tiny dents thats all about it. no mechanical issues, has some good new parts he listed on the ad.

is the price good ? i wanted a black 328is, but i guess a 325is white is good. you guys like the car ? should i bother getting the car inspected or just check its service records and inspect it myself ? should i buy the car ? its a 1993, so its the early 90s, im worried if the e36 early 90s were bad or not as good as the e36 mechanically ? id like more info and advise please.

edit: i also saw this but was told im not gonna like it cause its very slow and different. http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/3517555606.html good thing about it is that its a 1998 not an early 90s model. i dont know :)

Detailed service records and a carfax will tell you more then any inspection could. There are common issues you need to look for, rust being one. Also suspension balljoints and leaks are easy to identify. For 3500, its not bad for a manual, though if you are not familiar with these cars it would be best to take it for an independent inspection.
