Number nine

Hello all,

New to this forum and just gathered all the parts to build a 325i turbo kit.

Weld els, pipe, Holset hx35, designed a simple flange and had the local water jet cut it, ebay intercooler and have a bunch of pipe, metal, couplers etc to do the job.

Trying to decide between top and bottom mount and any input/pic/links/ideas would greatly be appreciated.

The driver said A/C is not necessary, but if possible I would like to see it stay.

So far I am looking at making a custom passenger side motor mount and putting the Holset just under #4,5,6 exhaust ports and squeezing the charge pipes around everything, but ther's a couple A/C lines in the way.

OR

Top mount by relocating the washer tank and having the turbo in front of the inner fender/over #1,2,3 exhaust ports. Eliminating the dryer and running the charge pipes through behind the headlight.

The Holset is a rather large case, down pipe routing would be easier in the bottom mount scenario, not sure where it could be routed easily with a top mount.

Thanks for sharing,

John

Got the front of the car pulled apart so far and the ebay intercooler doesn't fit between the headlights. Had a Volvo I/C sitting on a shelf for a rainy day. One could only hope it was raining, heat index of 105* and 60% humidity, shop is roasting :(

Love the fitment with the bumper back on and all. Stealth :)

Now that it's all fit in, gotta make some brackets...

It's a standard Volvo inter-cooler. People have gotten more power from them than we are looking for :)

I will take some pics tomorrow when the mounting brackets are finished up.

All bolted back up. Stock electric fan in, condenser still in, this would even fit behind a non-M3 bumper :)

I/C to TB pipe is done, just needs a coat of paint...

Not much has happened on hardware except blasting and painting the fabricated parts, but we caught a grasp of the 413dme, and fine tuned it with the stock injectors. He was actually surprised at the increase just by tweaking the tables. He dropped off the vr6 swapped MKII Jetta and took the e36, so we will do the 42# injectors and re-tune it N/A before finishing up the hot side at a later date.

We have decided to eliminate the A/C and do a top mount since this isn't the daily (South FL is HOT!) and we came up with a fun exhaust exit.

After knowing what the e30 race car made on the dyno has me excited about doing the basic same setup on a 24v. It maxed 36# injectors at 15psi through the same HX35, the e36 is getting 42's.

Pics are always fun...

Not going to see it finished :(

The owner pulled the plug and traded the e36 for an e30 and bought an Eclipse GSX for us to tweak.
