The Official Dyno Thread

Air, fuel, and a spark, thats what makes every one of these Bavarian powerhouses churn at up to 7000RPM. Discuss all 1992-1999 BMW 3 series motors here. Including all M50, S50, M52, S52, M42, and M44 variants.

Stock plugs (not the correct heat range) and a dyno operator who didn't bother to ask what the redline was. I got a free run out of it but it was heat soaked by that time. So... it really isn't worth much.

Edit: why can't I hot link out of my pictures on this site?

Volf, i want to see what a slushbox can turn out.... :bananadance

Haha! Well with my current wheel/tire set up and my 3.91's I'm GEAR limited to 183mph. Don't have the power to get there though. I bet I could hit 165 easy though. I haven't taken it over 130 since I got my chip (no limiter) and my 3.5" intake... but with just the 3.91s when I hit the limiter at 138 it felt like I crashed into something it was pulling so hard. I was thrown forward in my seat a bit. So it has plenty of steam. I'll find out one day.

I actually have one of these,
Nick took my car in when I first bought it.

But...why...is it so close to that of an M3?

I believe the dyno dynamics are wheel hub dynos (take off the wheels and bolt up the boxes.)

they are known to read close to flywheel hp.

That dynojet reads low on all cars... so don't hate please... just seeing an STi's max power on that dyno makes you want to sell it...
