How do you drill M3 skirt holes that won't rust?

I want to install M3 skirts that I have on my 94 325ic, but I don't want to drill a bunch of holes and have them rust out. What is a good technique to ensure the holes I drill out won't start rusting? I was thinking about something like oiling or tarring around the holes... Any other/better ideas? Also, I called a local BMW dealer to ask about templates for the skirt holes and they've never heard of it... What is the best way to find out where the holes should be so I can get it right the first time without wrecking my rocker panels with unnecessary holes?

The best way is to inspect an M3 and take some measurements to precisely determine where to drill, then after drilling, the way to rust proof a drill tap is to cover it with primer filler and paint.

So since I don't have an ///M3 handy, and haven't looked to see how my ///M3 sideskirts on my car are supposed to be attached, doubting that they are attached correctly since the previous owner put them on the wrong sides backwards and I think glued them on. So needless to say I'm pulling them off first chance I get, repainting them, and reinstalling them the right way. But couldn't I just measure where the holes are on the sideskirts then mark the car where the measurements land...?.
